Preoperative Testing
A pre op visit will be scheduled at our office one week prior to surgery . Durign this visit your doctor will perform a history and physical examination. We will also go over the proposed surgery in detail including the indications, benefits and risks of the surgery.  You will also be given a docotrs order for any needed lab work, EKG or Chest X-ray. remember to bring the following to your pre op visit:
  • Complete list of medications including doses
  • Lists of any medical problems
  • List of any known drug allergies
  • List of any questions you may have
Online Registration
You will need to pre-register online with the Fairfax Surgical Center. Once you have completed the Online Clinical History you will be contacted by one of the Pre-Operative Instructors for a Pre-Operative Interview.  Clink on the secure link below to register:

 
Pre-Operative Interview
The Fairfax Surgical Center Pre-Operative Department will contact you 3-5 busines dys before your surgery. If you do not recieve a call at lest 2 days before your suregey call 703-691-0670 and choose option 4.  Durign your interview you wil be told the time of your surgery.
 
Food and Liquid Restrictions
Unless instructed otherwise  do not eat any solid foods after midnight the night before surgey. YOu may have clear liquids until 3 hours prior to your surgery time- water or apple juice only. No liquids 3 horus before the surgery. Do not take any mints candies or gums.  If your child is breast fed or formula fed you will be give specific directions by the Pre-Operative nurse.
 
Hygiene
Take a shower the night before or the morning of surgey. You may brush your teeth but do not consume liquid after brushing. Do not wear contact lenses. Do not use lotions. Remove all make up, nail polish, piercings and jewelry.  Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. We recommend a button down shirt.
